Daily morning rituals can become an important part of your spiritual practice. One of the best ways to increase your spiritual and magickal power is by deliberately connecting to the Divine on a daily basis.

The benefits of a daily morning ritual include increased intuition, and an awareness of the powerful energy that exists within yourself, and throughout the entire Universe, so I’m going to suggest a few ideas for you to try.

Connecting to the divine in the morning doesn’t need to be a difficult practice. When you wake up in the morning, before jumping out of bed, close your eyes, and stretch your limbs. Take several deep breaths. Give yourself the opportunity to be in the moment, before you start running around.

It’s also important to practice your morning ritual before checking your phone or turning on the TV. This is because you want to be the one in charge of your thoughts without any external influences.

Another idea is to light a candle or some incense. This is like turning on your magick light, and letting Spirit know that you are open and receptive to any and all messages that may come through.

If you like music, playing something calm and meditative. Feel free to sit, stand, or kneel to center and ground yourself.

Next you can shuffle your tarot and oracle cards, and pull one card to represent the day. If you like, you can ask the question, “What do I need to know about this day?” Take a good look at the card: the colors, the objects, the people or animals, if any. Pay attention to the first thoughts that come to your mind, and meditate on them. Use your daily card as a focusing tool to anchor you throughout the day.

If you use a different divination tool, such as runes, bones, or dice, that’s fine. It’s a good idea to keep a journal, to write down your daily reading, as well as your interpretation of it. In the future, when you review your personal readings in the future, you will notice patterns, as well as the sharpening of your intuition.

Another thing you can do with a journal is to write Morning Pages. Morning Pages are an exercise when you write three pages of free association writing, writing down whatever comes to your mind, without planning or editing what you write beforehand. This exercise serves as a brain dump of all the scattered thoughts that are in your mind. At the end of the three pages, more important thoughts may reveal themselves, but you don’t have to re-read your pages right away. Re-reading your thoughts a month or more later will teach you a lot about yourself.

If you have an ancestor altar, light a candle and refresh the water. Check in with your ancestors, and talk to them. You can also play their favorite music.

If crystals are a part of your practice, choose one for the day, program it with your intention and keep it with you.

You do not have to do all of these things. These are just ideas for morning rituals to get you started. Try setting your alarm for 10 minutes earlier than usual, and start your day off right!
